My
work transports commonplace objects into new and fantastical
environments. The Reliquary series uses sticks and places
them into sumptuous containers. In its new habitat, each stick
insinuates a different animal such as a fox, or mournful dragon.
Overcoming
the traditionally passive role of the public is a concern
in my work. The Reliquary series includes works that have
items leashed to the container. An onlooker becomes a participant
by finding the "right" placement for the leashed
item.
Nearly
all my works are small in size to seduce the viewer into an
intimate relationship with the piece. The secret nature of
boxes promises more revelations to an engaged viewer.
